Bengaluru Torpedos claim their first win in the A23 Rupay Prime Volleyball League. The hosts Bengaluru won the match at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru by 15-10, 12-15, 15-13, 15-9, 15-9. Bengaluru star Shvetelin Svetanov, who performed well throughout the game, was adjudged the player of the match.

Torpedoes started the game cautiously with soft serves to avoid mistakes. Shvetanov and Mujeeb scored points for the team with spikes. On the other side, Anu James’ spikes were constantly blocked by Bengaluru captain Pankaj Sharma. A lack of effective communication in the middle order was a disadvantage for Mumbai.

Mumbai, who were under pressure, were also adversely affected by captain Karthik’s lack of form. On the other hand, for Bangalore, Aybin, Mujeeb and Shvetanov continued to score points with strong spikes. They also committed unforced errors as the game slipped away from Mumbai. Shvetanov’s performance made the most of Mumbai’s pressure and gave Bengaluru Torpedoes a 4-1 victory.

In the third set, Kochi tried to hold on once morest Kolkata, who advanced easily in the first two sets. At one stage he came close but lost the set at 14-15. With this, Kolkata also won the match. Kolkata easily won the fourth set. Kochi fought back in the fifth set. Won the set 15-12. Kochi lost to Chennai Blitz in the first game.

The second leg matches of the Rupay Prime Volleyball League will be held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad from this month. The first day is between Hyderabad Blackhawks and Kochi Blue Spikers. The match is at 7 pm.
