Kochi: Kolkata Thunderbolts win the final match of Prime Volleyball League. Kadawantra beat Ahmedabad Defenders 3-2 (15-7, 15-4, 15-13, 8-15, 11-15) at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium on Thursday. Calcutta’s Vinit Kumar is the man of the match. With the win, the defending champions also topped the points table with 12 points. Ahmedabad finished second with 11 points. Kolkata Thunderbolts will face Bengaluru Torpedos in the first semi-final on Friday. The second semi is between Calicut Heroes and Ahmedabad Defenders on Saturday. Both the matches are at 7 pm.
Kolkata Thunderbolts easily won the first set 15-7 with strong smashes by Vinit Kumar and Rahul. As Ashwal Rai started attacking along with Vineeth, Ahmedabad had nothing to do. Kolkata won the second set 15-4. The Defenders showed signs of a comeback in the third set, but the Thunderbolts won the set and the match 15-13.
