Prime Minister’s Inspection Meeting in Heavy Rain… Investigation of the cause of damage with experts outside Seoul

Prime Minister Han Deok-soo held a video conference with related organizations at the Seoul Situation Center in the Central Disaster and Safety Situation Room of the Government Complex Seoul at 9 pm on the 11th to check the situation of handling heavy rain, the Prime Minister’s Office said.

The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the National Police Agency, the Fire Service, the Korea Forest Service, and the Korea Meteorological Administration.

According to the main report of the meeting delivered by the Prime Minister’s Office, as of the meeting time, two of the three lanes near Seopangyo IC of the Yongin-Seoul Expressway were opened, and all roads are expected to be opened the next day.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government reported that it had decided to investigate the cause of the flood damage together with external experts and come up with recovery measures.

Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min, head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, reported that there are proposals for expanding military and police personnel support at the flood site in Gwanak-gu, Seoul.

In response, the Ministry of National Defense and the National Police Agency responded that they would continue to expand human resource support.

Prime Minister Han said, “The rain will subside for the next few days, but there is a possibility of strong rain once more early next week.”
