Prime Minister’s directive to speed up measures to convey the benefits of reduction in petrol prices to the people

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar has instructed the authorities to speed up the measures to convey the benefits of reduction in the prices of petroleum products to the common man and to deal with hoarders with iron hands.

The Caretaker Prime Minister issued these instructions during a review meeting regarding the impact of reduction in the prices of petroleum products to the common man and ensuring the reduction in prices.

Caretaker Federal Ministers Murtaza Solangi, Gohar Ejaz, Kausar Abdullah Malik, Sami Saeed, Muhammad Ali and related senior officials participated in the meeting while Caretaker Chief Ministers Mohsin Naqvi, Justice (R) Maqbool Baqir, Azam Khan, Chief Secretaries of the four provinces and The concerned senior officials participated in the meeting through video link.

In the review meeting presided over by the Prime Minister, the recent decrease in the prices of petroleum products and the results of the operation against smuggling and electricity theft were informed.

Officials while briefing the meeting said that due to the recent reduction in the prices of petroleum products, the rate of inflation has decreased by 1.7 percent, which is the highest decrease in the last one year.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister directed that the benefits of 12.38% reduction in petrol price and 4.7% reduction in diesel price should be conveyed to the common man as soon as possible.

He said that thanks to the stability of the dollar and reduction in the prices of petroleum products, a total of 41 billion rupees have been saved, the relief of which will reach the common man.

The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of the four provinces to convey the effects of reduction in the prices of petroleum products, stabilization of dollar value and prevention of smuggling to the common man and said that hoarders and profiteers should be dealt with iron hands.

The Prime Minister said that the 18% reduction in the price of wheat and 16% in the average price of sugar in Balochistan is welcome.

The meeting was further informed by the authorities that due to the efforts of the administration, the prices of 24 essential commodities have decreased at the national level. Substantial reduction in prices of agricultural production, electricity, rents and industrial production is being ensured.

The Decision Support System for Inflation app developed by the National Statistics Institute is being used by the Ministry of Planning for monitoring the prices of food and essential items and making decisions.

In the meeting, Chief Ministers of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab and Chief Secretary of Balochistan gave a briefing on the measures taken in their respective provinces.

It was informed in the briefing that due to the initiatives taken by the provincial administration, the travel fares have been reduced by an average of 10 percent and operations are being conducted against hoarders and profiteers.

Officials while giving a briefing said that the district administration is ensuring reduction in the prices of consumer goods as a result of the reduction in the prices of petroleum products.
