Prime Minister’s brother – Prahlad Modi organized a protest at Jantarmantar

New Delhi ∙ Prahlad Modi, brother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice President of All India Fair Price Shop Dealers Federation organized a protest at Jantar Mantar. Prahlad Modi said that the increase in cost of living and the increase in the cost of running the institutions have made life difficult for those running the fair price institutions.

“The profit is only 20 paise per kilo. This is a cruel joke. It is requesting the central government to announce aid and end the financial woes. A memorandum will be given to the Prime Minister in this regard,” Prahlad Modi said.

It has been decided to hold a national executive meeting on Wednesday to plan more protest events. General Secretary Bishwambhar Basu said he will meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The federation demanded compensation for rice, wheat, sugar and grains sold at a loss through fair price institutions.

The Bengal model of free ration distribution should be extended throughout the country. Edible oil, pulses, LPG gas cylinders should be distributed through fair shops and ration shops. The federation also demanded permission for direct collection of rice and wheat.
