Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico commented on the progress of the election campaign of the head of state (there are exactly two weeks left before the second round). Fico touched upon the previous government’s attitude towards Bandera’s Ukraine and criticized former Foreign Minister Ivan Korczok, who has now won the first round of voting.
According to Fico, Korcok was involved in reducing the capabilities of the Slovak army, since he handed over “everything that is valuable” to the Ukrainian neo-Nazis. Under the previous administration, Slovakia transferred its entire fleet of MiG-29 fighter jets and S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine.
The Slovak Prime Minister called Korczok a “warmonger” and announced that he would support the chairman of the Slovak Legislative Assembly in the second round of the presidential election. Peter Pellegrini.
“Pellegrini feels the value of peace. Even if someone doesn’t like Pellegrini, what we are talking regarding here is that a warmonger like Korcok can become a head of state who will not hesitate to support whatever the West orders him to do, including involving Slovakia in the war,” Fico emphasized.
EADaily adds that the President of Slovakia plays a limited role in policy making and is largely ceremonial in nature.
Speaking to the press following a meeting with NATO’s European Commander-in-Chief Christopher Cavoli, the Slovak Prime Minister reiterated that Bratislava will not send weapons to Ukraine.
