Prime Minister K. Mitsotakis at the Unified Operations and Crisis Management Coordination Center

The Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, visited the Unified Coordination Center for Operations and Crisis Management of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection to be informed about the progress of the fires in Attica and the operations of the fire brigade. After the briefing, he returned to the Maximos Palace where he will remain to monitor the developments.

The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, expressed her solidarity with Greece and announced that the European Union is sending aid through the natural disaster response mechanism. Specifically, two planes have been sent from Italy, a helicopter from France, and additional forces from the Czech Republic and Romania.

The Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, also remains at the Coordination Center for the ongoing management of the situation.
