Last year, it was discovered that Prime Minister Kishida had a number of deficiencies regarding his political funds and campaign expenses for 2021, including leaving the proviso and address blank on receipts, as well as failing to write down campaign expenses.
The prime minister has just started a new system this month following reshuffling his cabinet and reshuffling LDP executives, but ministers have been raising questions regarding political funding one following another. Cases involving non-recording of grants and suspected violations of the prohibition on donations by businesses contracting for national projects related to national elections have been reported by political parties including Economic and Security Affairs Minister Sanae Takaichi, Policy Research Council Chairman Koichi Hagiuda, and Campaign Committee Chair Yuko Obuchi.
