Vaduz (ots) – Prime Minister Daniel Risch visited North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) on June 27 and 28, 2023. Bilateral working talks with leading politicians as well as the keynote speech on the subject of “Entrepreneurial State” at the Neuland Congress in Aachen formed the high point of the two-day visit.

The reason for the visit of the head of government in Aachen and Düsseldorf was the invitation of the organizers of the renowned German Neuland Congress. Daniel Risch addressed the contribution of small countries in the global community of states and the advantages of a state run according to entrepreneurial principles. At the beginning of his visit to Aachen, Prime Minister Daniel Risch met Sybille Keupen, Mayor of Aachen, for a working meeting on Tuesday, June 27th. The main topics of economy, social transformation and the Charlemagne Prize, which is awarded annually in Aachen for services to European unification, were discussed. After the Neuland Congress, Prime Minister Daniel Risch was received by Rector Ulrich Rüdiger and given a tour of the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen – RWTH Aachen University for short. RWTH Aachen is one of the leading technical universities worldwide and has around 47,000 students, 10,000 employees and over 550 professors. As a special focus, the research team for artificial intelligence informed the head of government regarding their research priorities. On the same day, the traditional CHIO horse tournament with a comprehensive supporting program took place in Aachen, at which the head of government was invited to the table of honor with CHIO President Stefanie Peters, IKH Princess Anne, Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst and WDR Director Tom Buhrow.

On Wednesday, June 28th, the focus was on the intensive cooperation between the two industrial and business locations of North Rhine-Westphalia and Liechtenstein. NRW is not only the most populous federal state, but also the state with the most foreign direct investments in Germany. Liechtenstein industrial companies maintain eleven locations in this federal state. Prime Minister Daniel Risch met for bilateral talks with Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst, Europe Minister Nathanael Liminski and Finance Minister Marcus Optendrenk. The discussions addressed the challenges of the European economy and the impact on North Rhine-Westphalia and Liechtenstein as a business and financial location. Daniel Risch emphasized the need for well-functioning, neighborly relations between Liechtenstein and the German federal states.
