Prime Minister cannot be fired; Israel passed the law

Tel Aviv: Israel’s parliament has passed a law banning the dismissal of the prime minister except for health and mental reasons. Only the government has the power to do this.

Thousands took to the streets all over the country, alleging that this was a move that would lead to a dictatorship. The police used water cannons on the protesters at various places. Massive protests have been taking place in cities every Saturday for weeks once morest legislation that would curtail the powers of the judiciary.

After the law was passed, widespread protests took place. The law was passed by 61 votes once morest 47 in the 120 member parliament. The legislation is alleged to be part of a move to escape Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is on trial for corruption.

Reserve members of the army also participated in the protest in Jerusalem. Netanyahu stated in a televised speech that he will proceed with reform measures.
