The MSI MAG272CQR monitor is primarily aimed at gamers with its 165 Hz curved VA panel displaying Quad HD definition. It stands out with its USB-C port which gives it a little more versatility to be able to use it with a laptop.
The Optix MAG272CQR is a very good all-around gaming monitor. Its Quad HD definition, its image quality, its 165 Hz frequency, its responsiveness and its FreeSync compatibility allow it to be as comfortable in the office as in games. We would have liked MSI to push the concept of the USB-C port a little further by offering real power and the duplication of USB ports, which would have allowed this monitor to turn into a real docking station, which no other monitor for gamers does not currently offer.
Points forts
- Quad HD definition at 165 Hz.
- Very well calibrated by default.
- Compatible FreeSync.
- Good contrast in absolute terms.
- Clear and easy to use interface thanks to the joystick.

Weak points

- The USB-C port limited to 15 W.
- Consumption above average.
NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude prices from shops whose the VAT policy is not clear (known as “grey” shops, typically in the case of imports from China).
An alternative
The Dell P2720DC is an excellent monitor for office automation and multimedia. Its ergonomics are impeccable and the integration of a USB-C port delivering 65 watts allows it to be transformed into a small docking station for laptops equipped with the same connector. Plus, it delivers a perfectly calibrated image right out of the box and is backed by a 3-year warranty. We can simply blame it for its slightly high followingglow and barely average contrast. For the rest, it’s flawless.
