World-famous primatologist and author Frans de Waal spent tens of thousands of hours watching chimpanzees and bonobos. Man is very similar to his fellow primates, he concluded, but can still learn a lot from them. De Waal died on Thursday, March 14, in his hometown of Atlanta.
