The dollar in peru closed slightly lower this Wednesday, while the markets are attentive to data that can give clues about the future movements in the interest rates of the Federal Reserve of USA.
The exchange rate ended the day at S/ 3,892 per dollara slight fall of 0.05% compared to Tuesday’s close of S/ 3,894, according to data from the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR).
So far this year, the greenback accumulates an advance of 2.23% compared to the last price of 2022, at S/ 3,807.

US$ 230 million were negotiated in the market at an average price of S/ 3.8973, indicated Fabiola Gutiérrez, Currency Trader at Renta4 SAB.
“During the day, the offer came from local corporations, with the dollar reaching a minimum level of S/ 3,889. The BCR intervened by placing a sale exchange swap for S/ 500 million at an average rate of 5.39%. Likewise, there were maturities of exchange swap sale for S/ 500 million”, he added.
How much is the dollar in the parallel market?
In the parallel market or the main exchange houses, the dollar is bought at S/ 3.87 and sold at S/ 3.91, according to data from the portal cuantoestaeldolar.pe
Likewise, the average price in the banking market stands at S/ 3,880 for purchase and S/ 3,885 for sale.

The currencies of Latin America registered a mixed behavior on Wednesday, in the middle of a slight global advance of the dollar, while the agents make bets on the next movements of the central banks and, especially, the Federal Reserve of the United States.

Alvin Tan, head of Asia currency strategy at RBC Capital Markets, told Archyde.com markets were quiet due to the Lunar New Year holidays and the Fed.
“Much of Asia is still on vacation. We have the Fed very soon and I think there is a little bit of caution ahead of that.“, he claimed.
