On Wednesday the value of the exchange rate reached 1,000 pesos for the first time in history and the figure generated wide and important repercussions.
It happened at 11:37 a.m. yesterday of that day. The electronic stock exchange registered the historic value of the North American currency and it was maintained for a few minutes. It then dropped to 993 pesos.
The increase in the price of the dollar originates important effects in the national economy. In Chile, the increase in the price of the US currency has been taking place repeatedly since the last few weeks. Until now, the average value of the month reaches 821 pesos and this represents an increase of 152 pesos in relation to the previous period.
During this week, the average price of the dollar reached 932 pesos, marking an increase of 41 pesos. Yesterday, Friday, ended with a value of the North American currency of 951 pesos, which meant an increase of 18 pesos.
Today, Saturday, the day exhibits a price of the US currency that amounts to 974 pesos. Nevertheless, the volatility in the exchange rate can influence oscillations during the development of the day.
