Preview: Phantom Fury – action fireworks sends heroine Shelly back on course

It’s been a few days since Gamescom, but we still have news to report. Because during this we were allowed to watch a few scenes from the newly announced successor to Ion Fury. His name is Phantom Fury and he promises to be action-packed once more.

Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison is back in this highly interactive blend of first-person action and road movie adventure. Embark on an adrenaline-pumping journey through the USA. Armed with a vast arsenal of weapons and abilities, battle treacherous soldiers and evil mutants as you try to save humanity. Many years following her battle with Jadus Heskel, Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison awakens in a new world, pulled from her coma at the behest of an old colleague, with a new bionic arm. Tasked with securing a highly dangerous artifact, the legendary Demon Core, Shelly embarks on an intense journey across the United States as she seeks to transcend her own past in order to save humanity’s future.

An intense mix of bombastic action and road movie. Fight your way through seedy hotels in Albuquerque, explore abandoned compounds in Los Alamos, secure the streets of Chicago and more. The chic 2000s graphics with the latest technology give the game a high degree of interactivity and bring the surroundings to life. Fully functioning computers, helicopter rides, playable arcade machines are just a few examples of what to expect. Over 20 unique weapons are available. Fan-favorites like the bowling bombs are joined by brand new gear like armor-piercing shotguns, electrified foam shooters, and controllable drones. Of course, the blood and some limbs don’t stay in the right place. A driving electro soundtrack accompanies you, which tops the whole thing off and provides additional fun.

Unlockable weapon upgrades and mods with new firing capabilities give you the control you need to master any battle. Weapons aren’t the only way to complete the many challenges that await along the way. Upgrade your bionic arm and suit with powerful new abilities, such as a slam attack or an electric shield. You’ll encounter malevolent cyborgs, menacing soldiers, and disgusting mutations, each with their own special abilities. By the way, the campaign is supposed to last regarding 10 hours and we are already looking forward to the final game. If the levels are all varied enough and the long-term motivation remains, a successful retro action firework display awaits us here.

Phantom Fury appears 2023.
