21% more detections of violations

American scientists have discovered a means of increasing the prevention of recurrent ischemic stroke, Monavista Daily reports.

According to experts, patients with the complication of atrial fibrillation – an irregular and erratic heart rhythm – are five times more likely to have a recurrent stroke. Doctors believe that the problem can be avoided by implanting a heart monitor – this will help detect heartbeat irregularities in time.

According to the results of the experiment, which involved 500 patients who had suffered a heart attack and 33 US medical institutions, over three years, arrhythmia was detected in 21% of cases in people with implanted heart monitors, while in the group without them, disorders were detected only in 2% of cases – when visiting a doctor.

Experts estimate that this method of preventing stroke is truly effective.
