The town of Lodève now has 8 general practitioners in town. The last two arrivals settled in 15 days ago, in the premises of the town’s health center. They are employed by the Region, as is the secretary who works with them. One solution among others for prevent Lodève from becoming a medical desert.
Because there are still more than 1000 people in the town who do not have a doctor. Those who make an appointment with the two new doctors do not have sometimes not been treated or medically monitored for two years. “I didn’t think there was such a wait. The patients are really happy” confesses Françoise Armengaud, one of the two doctors.

With her colleague, they have very different profiles. Jeanne-Paul Delvaux has just finished her medical studies. She wanted to settle in a rural area, and salaried work reassures her as much as it allows him to spend time with patients: “we have a secretary, who manages the administration, who takes care of sending the documents to the social security, we don’t need to manage everything that needs to be managed as a freelancer.” Same story with Françoise Armengaud who knew the liberal cabinet “here it is not a question of profitability, we take the time with the patients, we concentrate on improving the care offered and not on improving the structure or the practice.”
The mayor of the town Gaëlle Lévêque is delighted with this installation: “we have six doctors in the town’s health center, plus the two new ones and there is a doctor in Caylar so we are not a medical desert. But if that is not the case, it is because that we have given ourselves the means to offer practice conditions and a place of practice that inspire doctors.”
The new Ma Région health center currently offers consultations from Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. A third doctor is being recruited.
