And the Public Health Authority in Saudi Arabia stated in a tweet on “Twitter” that the consumption of these foods may be a cause of infection with brucellosis.

And brucellosis is a bacterial disease caused by different types of brucellosis bacteria, which mainly affect cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, and dogs, according to what the Saudi Ministry of Health indicated on its official website,

This infection has different names, including Cyprus fever, Gibraltar fever, and goat fever.

It can also be transmitted through direct contact with infected animals, or their secretions, and through the air in barns and stables.

This infection can cause a range of symptoms, and initial signs may include the following:

  • Sweating
  • Feeling chills
  • Anorexia
  • Headache
  • Pain in the muscles, joints, and back
  • Fatigue and lethargy

And the Saudi Ministry of Health indicated on its official website that there is no human vaccine to prevent this disease, which means that it is important to take the necessary precautions to prevent infection, and these steps include the following:

  • Make sure to cook the meat well until it reaches a temperature between 63 and 74 degrees Celsius
  • Refrain from eating unpasteurized dairy products, including milk and cheese
  • Make sure to wash hands before and following dealing with animals
  • Take the necessary precautions when dealing with animals, using rubber gloves, glasses, and protective clothing
