Many cyclists have already experienced the misfortune of a bike theft. The experience is obviously quite unpleasant and the authorities have decided to take measures to curb the whims of thieves.
In Brussels, for example, cyclists can receive a sticker with a unique QR-Code. The latter, stuck on the bike, can then no longer be removed. The advantage of this device? When a bicycle is purchased second-hand, one can quickly check whether the bicycle has been reported as stolen.
The Minister of Mobility, Georges Gilkinet (Ecolo), wants to take inspiration from this system and extend it to the whole of Belgium, our colleagues from Nieuwsblad reported on Monday.
