The International Paralympic Committee announces that it is reversing its decision to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in the Winter Paralympics.
The International Paralympic Committee announced today, Thursday, the prevention of athletes from Russia and Belarus from participating in the Winter Olympics, which will be held in the Chinese capital, Beijing, following threats from other countries to boycott the tournament if the Russian and Belarusian athletes participate.

The International Olympic Committee asked the Paralympic Committee to cancel its competitions in Russia and Belarus, and then appealed to exclude the athletes of the two countries from international tournaments, including the Paralympic Games, which will be held from 4 to 13 March next.
“The change of situation came following we received a large number of calls from many countries asking us to reconsider our decision or there will be dire consequences for the Winter Paralympics that will threaten to cancel it,” said the head of the Brazilian Committee, Andrew Parsons, during a press conference.
