Relatives of the victim informed scoop that both parties were summoned – this Tuesday – to the Palace of Justice in Puerto Ordaz, to open the judicial process for this case. However, the accused did not appear at the scene because he is allegedly in poor health.

Similarly, the relatives of the cyclist Roger Lereico state that they have not received the report on the toxicological tests that they should have carried out on the accused or reports that support his current state of health.

“He did not appear in court and the lawyer resigned. The ministry will assign one to him,” Lereico’s relatives explained regarding the subject, following emphasizing that they require him to appear to know the end of the case, because they are concerned regarding the constant irregularities contemplated in several transfers that have been made to the citizen to health centers in Upata and San Félix.

Three days

Roger Lereico, 43, was run over three days ago in Upata, Piar municipality when he was riding a bicycle to a bodegón to buy food.

He was hit by a white Toyota Hilux truck that was moving at high speed, whose driver – presumably – was under the influence of alcoholic beverages, and because of this, he lost control. In this way he took the life of the blacksmith Lereico, who died instantly following being hit.

The truck finally stopped when it hit the perimeter fence of the Experimental University of Guayana (Uneg).

Officials from the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) went to the site. Both involved were taken to the José Vera Custodio Hospital in Upata.

Lereico’s relatives ask for justice for him, who was the father of two adolescents aged 12 and 15.
