The special state parliament in Vorarlberg, the calls for the resignation of Governor Markus Wallner (ÖVP) and the motion of no confidence once morest him have caused waves. The topic was also picked up in other media on Tuesday – here is a press review.

Fabian Schmid, for example, writes of a “disenchanted Markus Wallner” in the Tuesday edition of the daily newspaper “Der Standard”. He continues: “Within and outside of the ÖVP, there were quite a few who would have trusted the Vorarlberg governor to hold the chancellor’s office. Wallner is now fighting for his political survival, and it turns out that he can’t handle political crises.”

Moritz Moser also points to this point in the “NEUEN Vorarlberger Tageszeitung”: “The affair has long since grown beyond a tax misunderstanding. There will be proceedings and probably not only those under fiscal criminal law. However, one waits in vain for an admission of guilt.”

Gerold Riedmann also takes this line in the “Vorarlberger Nachrichten” when he writes: “Wallner underestimated the crisis for far too long. He devotes himself to accounting and tax issues that have long since ceased to be the focus. It’s regarding whether you can trust the party of the father of the country. And those responsible for the party do not seem to have grasped what is happening to them.”
