The Ministry of Health and Population said that the President of the Republic’s initiative to discover and treat hearing loss and weakness in newborns aims to have a healthy society free of hearing problems and disabilities.
The Ministry of Health and Population added that the services of the President of the Republic’s initiative to detect and treat hearing loss in newborns include hearing screening for all newborns, diagnosis and follow-up, in addition to free treatment for all children.
She said that the President’s initiative for early detection and treatment of hearing loss and weakness in newborns targets newborns from one day to 28 days old, noting the availability of examination places in health centers and units spread throughout the republic.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, pointed out that the number of hospitals and hearing referral centers has increased to 34 instead of 30 centers in all governorates of the Republic, and that they have been provided with the latest medical devices and supplies, to provide the hearing initiative services.
He said that the initiative comes within the framework of expanding comprehensive health coverage, and children’s access to quality health care, by following the latest treatment methods, which is reflected in providing a healthy and safe life for newborn children.
