In Senegal, the Constitutional Council, which is studying the files of candidates for the February 25 presidential election, rejected that of Ousmane Sonko on the grounds that it was incomplete, one of the opponent’s lawyers announced on Friday. This rejection comes the day after a court decision which confirmed the six-month suspended prison sentence for defamation. A sentence which risks depriving Ousmane Sonko of his eligibility, according to the electoral code. The latter has been incarcerated since the end of July, charged with endangering state security in another case.
