PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) POLITICIAN Hendrawan Supratikno responded to the discourse on the Presidential Club being formalized like the Supreme Advisory Council (DPA). According to him, now it is important to see in full the detailed ideas regarding the Presidential Club.
“We are waiting for more detailed information about the Presidential Club idea. Don’t make a fuss just yet,” said Hendrawan to Medcom.id, Wednesday, May 8 2024.
The member of Commission XI DPR suspects that the Presidential Club was an initial idea to create a friendly relationship between previous presidents. Then, it continued with conditions so that all parties accept the results of the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) which has generated a lot of polemic.
“Perhaps this is just an initial idea so that there is a friendly forum first, so that all parties accept the election results with relief, regardless of the strong criticism of the process we went through, as reflected in the chronology of our collective consciousness,” explained Hendrawan.
Previously, MPR Chairman Bambang Soesatyo alias Bamsoet agreed that there were plans to formalize the Presidential Club, namely through the President’s DPA. The DPA was actually abolished through amendments to the 1945 Constitution after reform.
“In fact, if possible, if we want to formalize it, we will have a Supreme Advisory Council institution, which can be filled by former presidents and vice presidents, if we want to formalize it,” said Bamsoet at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 7 2024. (Z -7)
