Presidential 2022 in France: Emmanuel Macron will face Marine Le Pen in the second round

Bis repeated. The first estimates from polling institutes for the first round of the French presidential election give Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen the second round. The outgoing president is credited with 27.6% to 29.7% of the vote, ahead of the National Rally candidate, Marine Le Pen, with an estimated result of between 23.5% and 24.7%.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon is given third in third position, between 19.8% and 20.8%. He is followed by Éric Zemmour (between 6.5% and 7.1%), the ecologist Yannick Jadot (between 4.4% and 5%) and the candidate LR Valérie Pécresse with a result which oscillates between 4.3% and 5%/of the votes.

All the other candidates are below 5%, including Anne Hidalgo who, with 2% of the vote, achieves the lowest historical level of the PS in France.

The last polling stations closed at 8 p.m. and counting is underway. The results given at this time of the evening are estimates. They will be refined in the evening.

The first reactions of “unhappy” candidates follow one another with or without instructions to vote. The Socialist Party candidate calls on French voters to vote for Emmanuel Macron in the second round of voting. “I call on you with seriousness to vote on April 24 once morest the far right of Marine Le Pen”, said the unfortunate PS presidential candidate. The same voting instruction was given by the unsuccessful Republican candidate, Valérie Pécresse and by the environmental candidate Yannick Jadot.
