President Zelensky: “Ceasefire Declared By Putin Failed” | Abroad

“They said something regarding a supposed ceasefire, but the reality is that Russian shells hit Bachmoth and other Ukrainian positions once more,” said the Ukrainian head of state.

“Again it has been confirmed: only the expulsion of the Russian occupiers from Ukrainian territory and the elimination of all possibilities for Russia to put pressure on Ukraine and all of Europe will mean the restoration of a ceasefire, security and peace .”

The Russian president had announced on Thursday that due to the Orthodox Christmas, a ceasefire would be in force along the entire front from Friday 10 a.m. Belgian time until Saturday 10 p.m. But it soon became apparent that shots were being fired on the Ukrainian and Russian sides. Moscow initially denied this, but later admitted to responding to Ukrainian shelling with counter-attacks.
