President Yoon Seok-yeol delivered a congratulatory letter to Pope Francis through a government delegation in connection with the cardinal inauguration ceremony at the Vatican.
In the letter, President Yoon said, “I congratulate you on the newly appointed 20 cardinals, including Cardinal Yoo Heung-shik of the Republic of Korea, as faithful collaborators of the Pope. “He said.
“I sincerely thank the Pope for always showing special affection and interest in the Republic of Korea and praying for peace and harmony on the Korean Peninsula,” he said. We look forward to developing a relationship.”
At this inauguration ceremony, regarding 20 new cardinals, including Cardinal Yoo Heung-sik, will be inaugurated.
With the appointment of Cardinal Yu, the Catholic Church in Korea has produced the fourth cardinal following Kim Su-hwan Stefano, Jeong Jin-seok Nicholas, and Yeom Su-jeong Andrea.
The government dispatched a government delegation headed by 1st Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Jeon Byung-geuk to this ceremony.
