Amid concerns regarding damage from heavy snow and cold waves across the country, President Yoon Seok-yeol ordered on the 22nd to thoroughly take safety measures and take care of the vulnerable.

President Yoon said, “Relevant agencies centered on the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare should thoroughly check the snow removal work of living spaces such as major roads and alleys, safety measures for facilities vulnerable to snowfall such as gyms, and care for the vulnerable, such as the elderly living alone.” Lee Jae-myeong, deputy spokesman for the presidential office, said in a briefing.

In preparation for the lack of snow removal equipment due to the continued snowfall, it was requested to operate a regional and inter-agency support system and review the input of military resources.

In addition, as gatherings and travel increase during the year-end and New Year holidays, such as Christmas, the risk of safety accidents may increase, so it is requested that crowd management be thoroughly managed.
