    President Yoon Seok-yeol meets with Korean atomic bomb survivors in Hiroshima, Japan, where the G7 summit will be held.

    Spokesman Lee Do-woon of the Presidential Office made the announcement at a briefing at the Yongsan Government Complex on the morning of the 19th, and said, “President Yoon is the first president to meet the Hiroshima atomic bomb victims.”

    During his two-night, three-day visit to Japan, President Yoon and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will visit the memorial stone for Korean atomic bomb victims in Hiroshima Peace Park.

    It is the first time for the leaders of Korea and Japan to jointly pay homage to a memorial stone for Koreans, and it is also the first time for a Korean leader to pay their respects.

    Regarding President Yoon’s G7 summit diplomacy, the President’s Office said, “It is an event that marks the beginning of the second year of diplomacy in the second year of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration.”

    President Yoon will attend as an ‘observer’ (observer) at the invitation of Japan, the chair country of the G7.
