President Yoon Seok-yeol today approved the dismissal of two opposition members of the Korea Communications Standards Commission.

The replacements for the two dismissed members will be appointed by President Yoon, and when this happens, the ratio of ruling and opposition members in the National Security Council will change from the existing 4 to 3 to 6 to 1, giving the ruling party an overwhelming advantage.

President Yoon Seok-yeol approved the motion to dismiss two opposition members, Ok Si-chan and Kim Yu-jin, approved by the Korea Communications Standards Commission.

The two committee members have been in conflict with the chairman over the so-called ‘complaint instigation suspicion’, which claims that Chairman Ryu Hee-rim of the National Audit Commission instigated the submission of ‘complaints for deliberation’ by mobilizing family members and acquaintances.

On the 12th, an argument broke out while demanding an investigation into the truth about the related incident, and four members of the ruling party, including Chairman Ryu, recommended the dismissal of member Ok Si-chan for throwing documents and swearing, and member Kim Yu-jin for explaining the related agenda to reporters.

Although it is a private independent organization, the ratio of recommended members of the ruling and opposition parties to the National Security Review Committee, which is actually appointed through recommendations from the political circles, increased from 4 to 3 to 4 to 1.

The replacements for the two dismissed members will be appointed by President Yoon, and in this case, a 6 to 1, one-sided ruling party dominance structure is expected.

The one remaining opposition member will not be able to make decisions or even request a meeting that requires one-third consent.

The two committee members announced that they would file a request for a provisional injunction with the court to invalidate the dismissal.

The opposition party also condemned this as an act of violence aimed at blocking voices seeking to uncover the truth.

″By dismissing those who raised the issue, the president himself has tolerated complaints about immoral and illegal contracting that may or may not have occurred.″

In the past six months, five of the six opposition-recommended members have been dismissed.

Although National Assembly Speaker Kim Jin-pyo recommended two successors, President Yoon has not appointed them even after three months.
