The controversial remark came during President Yoon Seok-yeol’s visit to Nonghyup Hanaro Mart in Yangjae-dong, Seoul on the 18th.
The price of a bunch of green onions on this day was 875 won.

The wholesale price of green onions on that day was 3,300 won, the recommended selling price at large supermarkets was 4,250 won, and some places sold them for the highest price of 7,300 won.
However, the president happened to visit the event where the government discount was added to the lowest price event in the country that included subsidies for farmers and discounts at supermarkets.
For this reason, there is criticism that the president, in a position where he should have a cool-headed understanding of people’s livelihoods suffering from high inflation, instead only listened to explanations of the government’s administrative achievements.

As the unprecedented discount price of green onions became known, customers flocked to Yangjae Hanaro Mart from the morning yesterday, and all 1,000 bundles of green onions allocated yesterday were used up in just 7 hours.
