He went on to say, “The increased quota of 2,000 students was allocated to non-metropolitan areas, including regional base national medical universities, and the foundation for strengthening essential medical care in the region was laid by increasing the number of students at small medical schools.”

President Yoon said, “The government will use this increase in medical schools as a catalyst to foster competent regional hospitals,” and added, “We will create a structure where local residents trust and use local hospitals, and we will definitely build a regionally complete essential medical system.” did.

Regarding concerns that the quality of medical education will deteriorate due to the increase in medical schools, President Yoon said, “Based on the results of the demand survey for each university, we will prepare a ‘plan to improve medical education conditions’ in April.”
