A public opinion poll conducted by Gallup Korea found that 34% had a positive evaluation of President Yoon Seok-yeol’s state administration, while 56% had a negative evaluation.
President Yoon’s approval rating rose for three consecutive weeks from 30% in the third week of October to 36% last week, before falling 2 percentage points this week.
As for the reason for a positive evaluation of President Yoon, ‘diplomacy’ was ranked first at 34%, followed by ‘defense/security’ at 6% and ‘working hard’ at 5%.
The reasons for negative evaluation were ‘economy/people’s livelihood/prices’, which was the highest at 22%, ‘dogmatic/unilateral’ at 8%, and ‘poor communication’ and ‘diplomacy’ at 7%.
The approval ratings for political parties were 35% for the People Power Party, 33% for the Democratic Party of Korea, and 3% for the Justice Party, and 27% for independents who do not support a political party.
When Gallup asked regarding the outlook for Korea’s economy over the next year, 53% said it would get worse, 18% said it would get better, and 26% said it would stay the same.
In response to the same question last month, Gallup assessed that pessimism had slightly changed to positive this month, compared to 66%, the highest in three years.
This survey is the result of a survey of 1,001 people aged 18 or older nationwide from the 14th to the 16th.
