President Yoon began by recalling the time when he worked as a prosecutor at the Gangneung Branch of the Chuncheon District Prosecutors’ Office from 1996 to 1997. President Yoon said, “I also lived in Ponam-dong a long time ago when I was working here in Gangneung. “At that time, Ponam-dong was developed and cafes were created,” he recalled. “The official residence in Ponam-dong was a row house, and in late 1996 and early 1997, it snowed so much that in the morning, the snow fell all the way to the eaves of the front door of the official residence, making it difficult to open the door.” . In addition, President Yoon, whose maternal family lives in Gangneung, said, “I remember when I was young and visited my maternal grandparents’ house during winter vacation, it snowed a lot.”

Meanwhile, this event was held at a cafe run by a young businessman who graduated from Catholic Kwandong University. This cafe also provided free coffee and shelter to firefighters during the Gangneung forest fire in April last year.
