During President Yun Seok-yeol’s trip to New York, the US-Korea summit and the Korea-Japan summit went limp.

First of all, let me tell you regarding the failure of the Korea-US summit.

The Korea-U.S. summit with US President Joe Biden, which the Korean government announced definitively, did not take place in the end.

One-on-one meetings were all regarding standing on the stage of an event in New York to say hello for 48 seconds.

The presidential office explained that it was “due to President Biden’s schedule change” and that “the amount of time the two leaders met is not important.”

The 7th Global Fund Financial Commitment Meeting was held in New York, USA at around 5 am today our time.

After a commemorative photo shoot, when the event is over, the heads of countries exchange greetings on the stage.

President Yoon Seok-Yeol waited on stage for US President Biden and had a conversation while smiling.

President Yoon and President Biden had a conversation for 48 seconds.

The Korea-US summit failed and was replaced by a 48-second meeting.

Attendance at the Financial Commitment Meeting was not originally on President Yoon’s schedule.

Shortly following arriving in the United States from London, President Yoon decided to attend the meeting and waited for President Biden when the Korea-US summit was canceled due to a change in President Biden’s schedule.

“I would like to add more strength to the efforts of the international community to strengthen the global health system. The Republic of Korea will contribute a total of 100 million dollars over the next three years.”

And it was only following the meeting was over that I had the opportunity to have a brief conversation with President Biden.

In response, the Office of the President said, “As President Biden’s domestic political schedule shortened New York’s diplomatic schedule, the staff of both sides took emergency measures.”

Regarding the ’48-second meeting’ controversy, he countered, “During this tour, I had a total of three conversations with President Biden in London and New York.

He said that he also discussed pending issues such as the US Inflation Reduction Act that disadvantages Korean manufacturers.

“President Yoon met with President Biden on several occasions during his visits to London and New York. They discussed major issues such as the US Inflation Reduction Act, financial stabilization cooperation, and expansion restraints.”

When asked if they were able to discuss all the pending issues in 48 seconds, the presidential office said, “It was a method that the working-level staff had sufficiently consulted in advance and the South Korea-U.S. leaders approved it.”

However, the press release from the White House did not mention that they were discussing an inflation-reducing bill.

The Office of the President publicly announced that a South Korea-US summit was scheduled before leaving for the tour.

Although it was explained that “there was an emergency of President Biden’s schedule change,” in the end, the summit did not take place, and rather the ’48-second meeting’ controversy is added.
