Palestinian Authority requests emergency meeting with Arab League

The Palestinian authority is requesting an emergency meeting with the Arab League following “the brutal and persistent Israeli aggression once morest Palestinian citizens, including the storming of the al-Aqsa mosque by thousands of settlers.” The consultation should be initiated by the foreign ministers in accordance with the request, specifies the WAFA news agency.

Confrontations regularly take place around the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, which is considered a holy site by both Muslims and Jews.

The Arab League has 22 members. It was founded in 1945 to strengthen collaboration between member states. Among them, more and more are establishing relations with Israel, to the great dismay of Hamas in particular.

Since Saturday morning, the latter has been leading a major attack once morest Israel out of discontent, among other things, with the violence in the al-Aqsa mosque, the Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip and the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.
