President Peña headed the symbolic start of the 5th National Rally Championship

Asuncion, IP Agency.-The ceremony took place at the Sambadrome in the city of Encarnación and was attended by national authorities and prominent compatriot pilots, including current number 1 Joshua Duerksen.

Starting today, the powerful machines participating in the competition accelerate through the first stage with 6 special stages of the fifth date of the National Rally Championship, a test for Paraguay with a view to the arrival of the World Rally Championship in 2025.

The second stage of the race, which has Carmen del Paraná as its epicenter, will take place tomorrow with 4 special stages.

Important figures in motorsport are taking part, such as the championship leader, Agustín Alonso (VW Polo GTI R5/ RC2 – A), who is followed by the world champion Alejandro Galanti (Toyota GR Yaris Rally 2/RC2 – A) and in third place is Gustavo Saba (VW Polo GTI R5/ RC2 – A).

Also in the running for the win are World Cup players Fabrizio Zaldívar and Diego Domínguez Bejarano, among others.

“We are warming up the engines for the WRC. At the symbolic start of the 5th date of the National Rally Championship, we recognized Fau Zaldívar and Diego Domínguez as ambassadors of the country’s brand,” said the president of the republic, Santiago Peña, on his social networks.

He added that the constant effort of both “to take our flag to the top of international motorsport is a source of pride and an inspiration for all Paraguayans.”
