The president of the Judiciary, Javier Arévalo Vela, said today that the State must prevent bad elements from entering Peruvian territory because, he said, they contribute to the crime that plagues the country.
He said that immigration policy is directed by the Executive Branch. “In this case, I think that the measures to control the entry of migrants, especially people who might have a criminal record, seem good to me,” he said.
In his opinion, people who enter the country should be selected, because, he said, not all migrants are definitely criminals.
“But we do have a problem with the entry of bad elements that the State must prevent from entering Peruvian territory, (because) we are seeing that they contribute to crime,” he added.
Arévalo Vela made these statements following a meeting he held with the president of the Congress of the Republic, José Williams Zapata, to whom he asked to process the approval in second vote of the bill that authorizes local and regional governments to invest in infrastructure in the Judiciary, for the operation of more courts and the implementation of flagrante delicto units to combat crime.
The head of the Judiciary avoided ruling on the case of congressmen who cut the salaries of their workers, however, he made clear his emphatic position once morest corruption.
“We are once morest all acts of corruption that may exist, wherever they come from, the modality they have and whoever commits them. I think that should be made clear,” he remarked.
