President of Belarus pays official visit to Iran

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, started on Sunday a short state visit to Iran, to meet with his Iranian counterpart, Ebrahim Raissi.

The main reason for this visit is the development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as issues related to industry, agriculture and transport.

During the visit, Lukashenko also plans to meet with the vice-president of Iran, Mohamed Mahber, and with the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran and Belarus have been, in recent months, two of Russia’s few allies in the war in Ukraine, and the current situation in the region should also be the subject of the visit, reports the Spanish news agency Europa Press.
