President, mayor of Kiev, soldier who blows himself up, border guards: these Ukrainians ready to play heroes to save their homeland

Ukraine is looking for heroes. Tales of bravery are multiplying, often with tragic outcomes.

More than four days following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, acts of bravery are increasing. Many Ukrainians gave their lives to defend their homeland, or are ready to do so. The stories and anecdotes continue to flow, allowing a little bit to restore the balm to the heart of the opponents of Vladimir Putin.

This is the case of President Zelensky, Vladimir Putin’s number one target, who refused to be exfiltrated to the United States, preferring to take up arms to stand up to the Russian army. The president, who was still an actor and humorist three years ago, thus asserts himself as a true warlord ready to do anything to defend his country.

Vitali Klitschko also has an atypical trajectory. The current mayor of Kyiv is a former MMA fighter. Today, he counts the wounded and the dead of the war. He decided to take up arms to come to the aid of the three million inhabitants of Kiev, appearing today as the second most important political figure in the country.
