President Emmanuel Macron “took the measure” of the crisis, estimated the Rural Coordination, the second agricultural union, claiming to have been “listened” in particular on his requests for emergency cash flow and on administrative simplification, Wednesday February 14, following an interview at the Elysée. The head of state heard “our subliminal message: ‘Leave us alone and let us work’”Serge Bousquet-Cassagne, president of the Lot-et-Garonne chamber of agriculture and union figure, declared to the press.
At her side, Karine Duc, co-president of Rural Coordination (CR) in Lot-et-Garonne, identified “four strong points” in the requests presented to the Head of State: “emergency cash flow measures” ; the “simplification at all levels” and the lifting of production constraints, particularly environmental; the requirement of “mirror clauses” – on the reciprocity of standards for imported products – and finally a big effort “on transmissions” of farms.
Referring to the stacking of standards and paperwork, Serge Bousquet-Cassagne felt he had been “well understood” by the president: “It’s his administration that’s messing up, overplaying the laws. It’s up to him to do the job. Sometimes, he adopts laws that are not or barely applied on the ground”he said, giving the example of the development of agrivoltaism which would be “braked” by the regional administration.
