SANTO DOMINGO.- President Luis Abinader continues to lead the preferences for the presidential elections next year 2024, according to a new survey by the firm Gallup Dominicana whose results were released this Wednesday.

The poll, carried out with the sponsorship of the communications group RCC Media, indicates that 47.7% said they would vote for Abinader, 28.9% for Leonel Fernández (of the People’s Force Party) and 19.0% for Abel Martínez (of the Dominican Liberation Party). . 3.6% said they would not vote for any of them and 0.7 preferred not to comment.

According to the technical sheet, the field work of this new survey was carried out from 1June 1 to 14, 2023, conducting 1,200 face-to-face interviews with people proportionally distributed by region, age and gender according to the 2010 Census. Its margin of error is more or less 2.8%.

THE RESULTS

The results were offered by the radio program El Sol de la Tarde, from the RCC Media group, which is broadcast from Monday to Friday on the station ZOL.106.5 FM.

Despite the political positions, 60 percent of those who were surveyed approve of Abinader’s management, 36 percent disapprove of it, and 4 percent preferred not to comment.

PRM OR ANOTHER PARTY?

Just under half of those interviewed, 49.8 percent, prefer that the PRM continue to govern, 44.3 percent say that it must be another party, and 5.9 percent did not answer that question.

REJECTION RATES

In the case of former President Fernández, 62.7% would not vote for him and 1.9 preferred not to answer or give an opinion.

Regarding Abel Martínez, 65.8% indicated that they would not vote for him, 29.1% that they would, 5.0% preferred not to comment or not to answer and 0.1% answered that they would vote blank.

IF ABINADER DECIDE NOT TO BE RE-ELECTED

In the event that Abinader does not aspire to a second term, in a general sense the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, would benefit with 53.9%, the Mayor Carolina Mejía with 12.5%, Vice President Raquel Peña with 11.2, the Minister of Industry and Commerce , Víctor (Ito) Bisonó, with 7.1%, Guido Gómez Mazara would vote 7%, the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, 6.2% Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, 1.5% and Wellington Arnaud, 0.5%.

Within the PRM, Collado would obtain 54.3%, Carolina Mejía 12.9%, Raquel Peña 10.1%, Gómez Mazara 7.4%, Bisonó 6.6%, Beating 6.2%, Sanz Lovatón 1.9% and Arnaud 0.6%
