After the release of eight soldiers involved in the Ayotzinapa Case, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador instructed the Secretary of the Interior, Luisa María Alcalde, to publicize the letter that the head of the Executive sent in December to the minister president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), Norma Lucía Piña.
In his morning conference this Tuesday, January 23, at the National Palace, López Obrador accused that in the Judiciary there is a political interest in the release of eight soldiers involved in the disappearance of the 43 normalistas because they seek to discredit the Army and make it look bad.
The President said that 15 days ago he sent a letter to Minister Piña to warn her regarding this situation.
“I am going to ask the Secretary of the Interior to make that letter known, and as if we had told her: release them, regarding 15 days ago, because we already saw it coming; the same as the attorney’s (request for) release. What there is is a political interest of the Judiciary,” declared President López Obrador.

In response to the instructions of President López Obrador, the head of the Interior made public the letter that was sent to the minister president of the SCJN “since December 12 regarding the possible release of 8 soldiers linked to the Ayotzinapa case.”
“There we warned him of the risk of modifying the precautionary measures and the importance of this matter for the Mexican State,” said the Mayor.
In the text, the Secretary of the Interior mentions the resolution adopted in the session of Thursday, November 30, 2023 of the First Collegiate Court in Criminal Matters of the First Circuit in Mexico City, made up of judges Francisco Javier Sarabia Ascencio, Juan José Olvera López, and Horacio Armando Hernández Orozco as speaker.
He noted that in the session they considered “founded” the grievance alleged by the eight soldiers accused in criminal case 1/2023 of the index of the Second Court of Federal Criminal Proceedings in the State of Mexico, with residence in Toluca.”

“It should be noted that the execution has not been formally notified. Consequently, it was decided to modify and grant the suspension for the purpose of holding a new hearing in order to issue a precautionary measure different from the informal preventive detention ordered for the following defendants related to the Ayotzinapa case:
1.- Subtte. Omar Torres Marquillo,
2.- Sgto 2o Robert of the Holy Eduviges,
3.- 2nd Sgt. Ramiro Manzanares Sanabria,
4.- 2nd Sgt Juan Andrés Flores Lagunas,
5.- 1st Sgt. Gustavo Rodríguez de la Cruz,
6.- Cape Uri Yashiel Kings Laces,
7.- Corporal Eloy Estrada Díaz,
8.- Corporal Juan Sotelo Díaz”.
“The above is relevant because by modifying informal preventive detention there is a high risk of theft of justice, for example that they become untraceable or flee the country. Furthermore, I must point out that this is a matter of the greatest importance and significance for the State due to the serious violations of human rights that were committed once morest the missing young people, as well as the mothers and fathers who are looking for them,” the letter states. .
The text of December 12, signed by the Secretary of the Interior, adds that the Judiciary is trusted to ensure the rule of law, guarantee the human rights of the victims and punish those responsible so as to “not generate in society a message of impunity and injustice.”
