President inaugurated Paraguay’s first Museum of Economy and highlighted stories that will be exhibited

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, participated in the inauguration of the first Museum of Economics of Paraguay by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). On this occasion, he highlighted that this initiative brings together important chapters in the history of Paraguay and that the former Ministry of Finance has been a key institution within that history, from where decisions have been made that forged the macroeconomic stability of the country.

He said that just as there are many success stories in the history of the Ministry of Economy, Paraguayan society also has many that should be recognized. He highlighted Paraguay’s recent achievement of investment grade by the international rating agency Moody’s.

During his speech in front of the Palacio Alegre on Palma, the president added that above the pride we should feel for our history, we cannot be satisfied since the best days of Paraguay are yet to come.

Among the recent milestones in the institutional history of the Ministry of Economy, Peña recalled the beginning of the profound macroeconomic reforms in 2003, under the leadership of the then Minister of Finance, Dionisio Borda.

He recalled each of the ministers who have subsequently served in the institution, including his own time in the entity as Minister of Finance, succeeding the then Minister Germán Rojas; and the unprecedented appointment of a woman to head the institution, in reference to his current Chief of Staff, Lea Giménez.

The event was attended by numerous national authorities and special guests. The Museum is a space for culture and economic information and represents not only a significant contribution to culture, but also a valuable space for families and students, highlighted the Minister of Economy, Carlos Fernández Valdovinos.

During the opening ceremony, the Minister of Finance said that the Museum is a symbol of the commitment to education and transparency. “We will continue to move towards a more equitable and prosperous future for all,” he said.

Among the objects on display at the museum, which was opened with the support of Itaipu Binacional, some pieces from its museum collection will be on display at the opening ceremony.
