President Gustavo Petro and his government team will meet for two consecutive days in order to evaluate the performance of the year 2023 and plan the government strategy for next year, a strategic planning exercise, the government seeks to review the goals met during this year, identify areas of improvement, determine the necessary changes and strengthen those successful actions that must continue.
In a conversation with Caracol Radio, the Minister of the Interior, Luis Fernando Velasco, explained that this evaluation and strategic planning exercise articulates the Presidency of the Republic and contributes to coordinating national planning.
“The government, and particularly the president, wants to do a strategic planning exercise, review this year’s goals that were met, where we can improve what things we have to change and what things are going well and we have to continue doing it, that is going to be being basically the exercise that I understand articulates the presidency of the republic and in some way helps to coordinate national planning,” Velasco said.
The minister highlighted the government’s great commitment to significant social reforms presented in Congress, which are advancing and need to be finalized in the first half of next year.
“I have the impression that some actions have been consolidated that now need a stronger push, for example, working more directly with the communities, seeing what we are doing with the community action boards, they see that the entire transition process is going energy, how we can speed up agrarian reform” he explained.
“We have presented some very strong social reforms that are advancing but we need them to be finalized in the first half of next year, to become reality, so that what we have finalized with greater agility,” he concluded.
It is expected that this last meeting will allow us to identify areas of improvement and design effective strategies for the coming year, prioritizing actions that benefit communities and expedite the processes of institutional and social transformation of the country.
