At an event held in Quibdó, President Gustavo Petro once once more attacked prosecutor Francisco Barbosa, warning citizens that sectors are seeking to “throw him out once more,” pointing out that there would be plans to ‘overthrow’ his government.

In a forceful speech, Petro expressed his concern regarding alleged irregularities within the Attorney General’s Office, led by Barbosa. For the president, there are indications that prosecutor Barbosa is hiding relevant information, which will eventually come to light.

“Something is hidden, that they do not want to comply with the constitution,” said the president, suggesting that it might be irregular practices or protection of certain sectors of power.

In addition, President Petro accused prosecutor Barbosa of exercising sedition by allegedly investigating people without legal jurisdiction. In his words, Barbosa “makes a mockery of the Constitution” by carrying out actions outside of his jurisdiction and without respecting established legal principles.

“The prosecutor is going to try to take prisoners and initiate proceedings once morest several of you, because he is investigating me, and I don’t give a damn if he investigates me, what happens is that the constitution says that he does not have the jurisdiction to investigate me, “They do it from both sides and make fun of the constitution and are exercising sedition,” said the president.

Finally, the president denounced the existence of alleged corruption networks within the Prosecutor’s Office, alleging that the mafia in Colombia was being protected. “Some journalists have discovered that in the prosecutor’s office there are higher-level people who are protecting the mafia in Colombia and are not investigating them,” declared the president.
