“Shut up. Who did you beat?” This is how deputy Helia Molina (PPD) responded to former minister Marcela Cubillos, who criticized President Gabriel Boric’s speech in tribute to Sebastián Piñera. Although the president made a mea culpa for his role when it was his turn to be the opposition, the former Secretary of State assured that “they did things that do not fit within democratic legitimacy.”
Parliamentarians from the ruling party responded to the former Minister of Education, Marcela Cubillos, following criticizing the speech by President Gabriel Boric in the last farewell to Sebastián Piñera.
It is worth remembering that the president made a profound mea culpa to the role of the opposition during Piñera’s second government.
“One as an opposition, as has happened other times in our history in the midst of the political maelstrom, during his government the complaints and recriminations were, at times, beyond what was fair and reasonable”Boric said.
Likewise, he added that “as a parliamentarian I was an opponent of Sebastián Piñera. I don’t regret it, because that’s how democracies work. Occupying O’Higgins’ chair, however, has allowed me to better understand and evaluate Sebastián Piñera.”
Given this, Cubillos told CNN Chile that Gabriel Boric’s sector “It was not a tough opposition. What they did was try to remove, through violence and force, a democratically elected president.”
“So this is not just regarding saying ‘we were tough as an opposition’. “They did things that do not fit within democratic legitimacy,” added the former Secretary of State.
Helia Molina: “Shut up. Who have you beaten?”
These statements were severely responded to by ruling party deputies.
For example, Daniel Manouchehri (PS) said that “This is false. The social outbreak was never led by the opposition. Opposition leaders at that time might not even appear in the marches, which were once morest the entire political class.”

However, the harshest response came from Helia Molina (PPD). “Be quiet. Who have you beaten? “You were the worst Minister of Education in the history of Chile”he pointed out.
