President-elect insists on loyalty to López Obrador

MEXICO CITY (EFE).— Mexican President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum yesterday revealed her plans to write a book with the memories of her “historic transition” tour with outgoing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, with whom she reiterated that there will be no break.

The future president, who will take office on October 1, shared that she writes regularly during her tours with the president through different states of the country, which began last June and are about to end in the next few weeks.

“Every night that we do these tours, I write down both emotional issues and what we saw during the day. So, I already have a lot of notes about what we have experienced and I think it is worth sharing,” said Claudia at a press conference after meeting with governors of the Southeast. Claudia said that she hopes to have the time “to share with all Mexicans what this process has been like” of transition in a book, following in the footsteps of López Obrador, who this year published “¡Gracias!”, a review of his public life.

“The president has the ability to govern and write books. So, I hope to have that possibility in time as well,” Claudia said.

He also described the transition of government as “historic and smooth” as it seeks to “give continuity” to the projects initiated by the current government, in each place they visit together.

“I am writing about her because there is no transition in the history of Mexico like the one we are having with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (2018-2024)”, of whom she said she recognized “his career.”

“In addition, there is a friendship and a camaraderie that we have had with the president for more than 20 years,” highlighted the former head of Government of CMDX (2018-2023).

Sheinbaum stressed that such is the continuity that several of the current officials will remain in her government, such as the head of Public Security, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, who will be the Secretary of the Interior, the main position in the cabinet.
