President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi addressed the issue of street vendors during an open dialogue with police college students, and said: “To solve the issue of street vendors in Cairo, I want many shops at reasonable prices so that people can stand in them. And I, in the end, if I say the 2 million have nowhere to go. Let’s walk from here. Nobody does that, and the issue is resolved that the security behaves. No, we act. I, as a governor, act. I see empty places and equip them with shops at an appropriate price, and I answer these people who stand in them and upgrade them and develop them, the countries of our people.”
President El-Sisi added: “As the Minister of Defense, we were developing the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road. The officials took me to believe in evacuating street vendors. I told them to make shops and take these people and put them in shops and you will find them. They were present now.”
And the president continued: “We must improve ourselves and change people’s lives with thought, but the first thing is that we don’t have to say Indians where? Ok, these people go to their homes how?, is we want to solve the issue like this, wash our hands quickly, no, we must make an effort and suffer as officials and governors.
And the president said: “I worked under bridges to increase the size of the display, and instead of the bridge under it, it was not nice, so it looks nice, and someone sits in it with people eating bread. This is not a palace of the state, but it is an Egyptian case, how do we solve it?” And if we don’t, may God hold us accountable. How do I have 2 million street vendors, meaning 2 million families?
